Homemade Lasagna

Jon and I headed over to Dave & Amanda’s house so that Amanda and I could complete our 9 mile walk this afternoon.  Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate for the walk so instead we played a little Phase 10.   It was a very fun afternoon capped off with Amanda treating us to some of her homemade lasagna.  It was delicious!  I had to take some action shots while Amanda was hard at work in the kitchen.

Amanda boiled the lasagna noodles and then laid them out to dry off so that the water wouldn’t mess up the integrity of the dish 🙂

Amanda made every bit of space count since she wanted to ensure it had 3 layers.

Adding the homemade three meat sauce (fancy, huh?!).  The three meats were ground beef, ground turkey and sausage and it was so flavorful!  The meat sauce was already on the stove when we arrived and probably simmered for another two hours before making the lasagna.

In addition to shredded cheese the lasagna also called for cottage cheese instead of ricotta.

Look at how thick the lasagna is!!

Dave was very excited to find some leftover pasta to dip in the extra meat sauce.

The finished product, right out of the oven.

Look at that slice!  Amanda’s lasagna was so good!!!!  I can’t wait until the next time she invites us over for dinner…hint hint 🙂

In addition to slaving over her lasagna Amanda also found some time to make garlic bread.  She had mixed herbs in with some butter and let them hangout in the fridge for a while before using it.  The garlic bread was also amazing!

We had such a fun afternoon…even though Dave won Phase 10!
