So, you would think after yesterday’s proclamation Jon and I would have crossed a restaurant off our Nashville’s Best to-do list tonight…but you’d be wrong! We instead decided to use a groupon for the Capitol Grille in downtown Nashville. Hey, I’m a sucker for a good deal!
Not only is Captiol Grille nice, the food was de-lish! The ceiling is very unique as it has all sorts of mini-domes. I instantly loved the look of the menu (which is something that I don’t usually notice…at least other than the food options). The menu is currently printed like a Hatch Show Print which I thought was totally cool!
We started our meal by splitting the sweet onion bisque. Capitol Grille did something I always LOVE when splitting an item…they brought us out the bisque already separated into two bowls. It was a very nice touch! The bisque itself was very smooth, flavorful, with just a bit of richness. It was the perfect item to compliment the cool fall weather outside.
For dinner we each picked something off the ‘simply prepared’ section of the menu. Jon picked scallops and I chose a filet. Both were cooked to perfection and served coated with butter (and thyme we think) in an individual cast iron-ish dish. We both loved our entrees but thought they were a little heavy on the butter. Both entrees melted in our mouths. We decided to try two sides as well. Jon had the truffle mac n’ cheese while I decided on the ‘farm inspired side’ of the evening…which was grilled cauliflower. OMG! It tasted grilled and sweet and perfect. It was divine!
We were in and out in about an hour. We didn’t feel rushed but would maybe order our entrees after eating splitting the soup on our next visit. All in all we enjoyed our visit the Capitol Grille and would definitely go back!
